The Hypernauts follow a beacon to an asteroid field where they find an old, abandoned, research and exploration station that was left behind nearly 50 years ago. The onboard computer, Horton, is still active. The station / ship is the STAR RANGER 7. Horton has a detailed map of everywhere he has been--including a course to earth. However, Kulai warns the Hypernauts of the Triiad and its ability to track them to Earth. Ace takes his mech suit on a jump sled to see the Triiad armada and confirm Kulai's claims. He finds them and narrowly escapes.
The Hypernauts decide to wait until they can find a safe way back to earth. Until then, they will explore their new universe.
