Kulai is the last Chalim (spiritual leader) from Pyrus. With her planet destroyed by the Triiad, she has joined the HYPERNAUTS as a friend and a mentor, at least in part, due to the help they provided in the conflict with Paiyin. For now, the three do not know of Kulai's status among her people.

Kulai serves as a teacher to the HYPERNAUTS, helping them to understand the universe they now live in and to better know themselves.
